Check when your sewing machine was made
This web page is in its early stages but I will improve and expand when I get info about other brands. Errors or problems may occur so I am happy for any suggestions about things that are not working optimally, things that could be improved, or if there is something you think is good.

BERNINA 1950 - 2007
The serial numbers on BERNINA sewing machines all have 8 digits (early models have 7). They start with 10 up to 47 or 50 up to 60.
BERNINA 2008 ->
From 2008 BERNINA is using "Code" together with Serial Number. The first two numbers tells the year and the last month.
PFAFF 1862 - 1978
PFAFF began with serial number "1" in 1862 and this increased to the last serial number "31153175" in 1978.
Husqvarna VIKING 1925 - 1964
Husqvarna began with serial number "764500" in 1925 and continued until 1948. From 1948 to 1964, the first letter in the serial number was used.
Elna 1960 - 1980
From 1960 - 1963 Elna used the first two digits in the serial number. After 1963 they added a letter to the first part of the serial number.
Elna 1981 - 1995
The letter that starts the serialnumber tells the year, and the first two digits indicate the week of production.
