Service and repair – how we work
A service is much more than a quick visit with a vacuum cleaner and a little oil. With us, a service is a thorough review of the entire sewing machine, with the goal that it should function as well as possible – for as long as possible.
Both the mechanical, electrical, and sewing-related aspects are carefully checked and reviewed. The machine is adjusted so that it works smoothly, precisely, and stably – as close to “like new” as possible.
Repair – more than just what “does not work”
During a repair, we do not only fix what the sewing machine owner has noticed is not working. A full service is always carried out as well. This ensures that hidden or developing faults are identified and can be corrected before they turn into larger problems.
After having had a large number of sewing machines on the workbench, we have gained solid experience with various brands and models – and their typical weaknesses. When we know these, we can prevent problems before they occur, so that the sewing machine has a longer operating time without faults.
Electronics in older sewing machines
In mechanical sewing machines with electronic motor control, and in fully electronic sewing machines, it is normal for electronic components to fail over time. This is completely normal for older electronics – some components "dry out" and change their electrical properties.
The consequences can range from unstable operation to short circuits, heat generation, smoke, or damage to other components. When we know that certain components will only fail over time, we replace them preventively. The goal is to make the sewing machine safe, reliable, and ready for many new years of use.
Predictability and no surprises
Because such conditions are only discovered after the machine is opened, the work may in some cases become more extensive than initially expected. We never start work that we see will exceed the agreed maximum price without contacting you first (see booking page for details).
You will always be informed about:
- what needs to be done
- why it is necessary
- what the cost will be
This way you can decide whether the work should be carried out. No unpleasant surprises at collection.
Our philosophy
This is how we work.
We do not hand over a sewing machine we cannot fully stand behind.
We have made it easy for you
It is important for us that you have a safe, structured, and positive experience when you hand in your sewing machine to us. Therefore, we have placed great emphasis on making booking, delivery, pricing, and collection as simple and predictable as possible.
- Booking is always done via our booking form.
This provides us with a correct queue system and reduces the risk of misunderstandings and communication errors. - Waiting time – but short time without your sewing machine.
Even though the waiting time can be 2–3 months, you are normally without your machine for only 1–2 weeks. When we are ready to receive your machine, you will be called in to the next 14-day batch. - Full price clarification before work is carried out.
If the work exceeds the agreed minimum price, we will always contact you with an explanation of what needs to be done and why. You decide whether the work should be carried out.
No surprises at collection. - If you decline further work.
If you do not wish the repair to be carried out, the price estimate costs NOK 500. Alternatively, we can keep the sewing machine as a parts machine, and you pay nothing. - Follow the job on “My Page”.
Once the sewing machine has been delivered, you can log in to My Page and follow the status of the job. When the machine is finished, you will receive an SMS. You can then read the service report on My Page, and for larger restoration jobs you will also find images of the work carried out.
